Providing academic tutoring and training for students and teachers

Designed with a Purpose seeks to identify each individual's strengths for academic success.  Through teaching learning strategies and building processing skills, students are better equipped for reading, math, science, social studies, study skills, and test preparation. Designed with a Purpose has experience working with students who have learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, weak executive functioning, and anxiety. Reading intervention focuses on multi-sensory, direct instruction using an Orton-Gillingham method. Designed with a Purpose also consults with schools to evaluate and structure programs for students with disabilities and with parents as they navigate the IEP/504 process.

"Debbie has been a huge blessing to our family. We are so grateful for her help and guidance with our son and his academics. Debbie is excellent with children and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend her!"  ~ Jeanine F., Mother of a 5th grade student

"Mrs. Irwin was a wonderful tutor. She stepped right in with my fourth grade son and made a huge difference! His area of struggle is reading comprehension. Mrs. Irwin was able to give him multiple tools and resources to help him not only during their tutoring session but at home as well. She is very easy to work with and communicates well. Mrs. Irwin was definitely a bright spot near the end of a tough year!"  ~ Mother of a 4th grader

"It has been an absolute pleasure working with Debbie this year. We always looked forward to her kind, professional and positive presence week after week. She was able to help our daughter work through a wide variety of subjects and was excellent at meeting my daughter’s unique learning needs. I highly recommend her services to any family looking for a tutor and we look forward to working with her again next year!"  ~ Mother of a 7th grade student
